Opening and closing the till, PIN and discrepancies
Open the till with the opening cash, log in with your PIN, lock it when you leave and close it by counting notes and coins to see the discrepancy.
You can't sell at the POS without an open till session. Each venue has only one till open at a time, and everything charged on it counts towards that session.
The POS PIN
Each person logs in to the POS with a PIN of 4 to 8 digits. Whoever manages the team sets it in Settings → Users: open the record, click Edit and fill in POS PIN. If you leave it empty, it isn't changed. In the record you'll see “No PIN” if they don't have one yet. To log in with a PIN, their role needs the Sell at the POS permission. Anyone without a PIN can click Log in with email and password.
Open the till
- Go into the POS. If no till is open you'll see No till session open.
- Opening cash shows the device's float. Correct it if necessary.
- Click Open till.
Each device's float is set in POS → Devices.
During the shift
In the More menu, at the bottom left, you have:
- Open drawer: to open it without a sale, for example to give change. It is logged with your name and, if the device requires it, a reason.
- Till note: record money coming in or going out. It is only a note and doesn't change the amounts.
- Activity: the shift's sales, notes and drawer openings.
Locking and shift handover
When you leave, click Lock (the padlock at the bottom left). The till isn't closed: the money and the session stay in your name. If you come back, you carry on where you left off. If someone else logs in, the POS shows them Shift handover with the expected cash and won't let them sell until they click Count and close the till. Then they can click Continue and open their own till.
Close the till
- Click More → Close till.
- At the top you see the Expected cash today (opening cash plus cash taken) and the Card expected today.
- In Till count, enter how many coins and notes you have of each value. The total and the Discrepancy are calculated automatically. You can also enter the Cash counted by hand.
- Add Notes if there's anything to explain and click Close till.
On closing, the venue's POS managers receive a summary by email with the expected cash, the counted cash and the discrepancy. You can review closings in the panel, in POS → Till sessions, or in the POS itself, in More → Settings → Previous sessions. Discrepancies are highlighted.
